Nano Banana Zombie: How to Turn Your Photo into a Zombie
How to make a zombie version of your photo in Nano Banana Pro: Halloween prompts, three makeup levels, common mistakes and how to animate the result.
A Nano Banana zombie is a zombie version of your own photo that Nano Banana Pro creates from a single shot and a short prompt: the model adds makeup and changes skin, eyes and clothes while keeping your face recognizable. Upload a photo to Nano Banana Pro, describe the makeup and always list what must stay untouched: face, pose, framing. You get an image up to 4K in one generation. For quick drafts use Nano Banana 2.1, and to make your zombie run or dance, send the finished frame to Kling Motion Control. Below are three makeup levels, ready-made prompts and a table of common mistakes.
Which AI model turns a photo into a zombie
A zombie photo needs two things: the model has to hold your face from the reference and change skin texture cleanly. Both are strengths of the Nano Banana line. Other models cover separate jobs: text on a poster and animation.
| Task | Model | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Zombie version of your photo, face still recognizable | Nano Banana Pro | Precise reference editing, up to 8 images, 1K–4K |
| Try 5–10 makeup variations | Nano Banana 2.1 | Same prompt logic, faster; tall formats down to 1:4 |
| Halloween poster or invite with lettering | GPT Image 2 | Renders clean text, up to 4 references |
| Zombie runs at the camera or dances | Kling Motion Control | Transfers motion from a video onto your zombie photo |
| Two-person scene, zombie hug | Seedance 2.5 | Keeps two characters from photos, 4–30 s clips up to 1080p |

Three levels of zombie makeup
The most common mistake is asking for "as scary as possible" right away. The model takes it literally and little of your face survives. It's easier to think in levels and pick one up front.
| Level | What changes | When to use |
|---|---|---|
| Light | Pale grayish skin, dark circles, cracked lips | Avatar, stories, first pass |
| Medium | Gray-green skin, visible veins, cloudy eyes, messy hair, torn clothes | Main shot for the trend |
| Cinematic | Everything from medium plus dirt, dust, cold light and a horror-movie mood | Poster, cover, frame for a video |
Tip: do the medium level first and the cinematic one as a second pass on the result. The model then keeps your features, because the second pass only changes light and surroundings.
How to turn a photo into a zombie: 5 steps
1. Prepare the photo
Use a sharp shot where the face fills a good part of the frame and isn't covered by glasses, a hand or hair. For a full-body trend, take a vertical photo that shows the whole person. Use your own photo or one of people close to you, with their consent: photos of celebrities and strangers will be rejected by moderation.
2. Choose the model and format
Open Nano Banana Pro and upload the photo as a reference. Format is a setting, not part of the prompt: 9:16 for stories and video, 4:5 for the feed, 1:1 for an avatar. 2K is enough for social media; take 4K if you plan to crop.
3. Write the prompt as "change + keep"
A working prompt has three parts: what to change, what to keep, and the shot. Medium level example:
Turn the person in the photo into a zombie: pale gray-green skin, dark veins on the neck and temples, cloudy light eyes, messy hair, a torn dusty shirt. Facial features, nose and lip shape, hairstyle and pose unchanged. No blood or wounds. Realistic photograph, soft cold light.
Light level for an avatar:
Apply light zombie makeup: pale skin with a gray tint, dark circles under the eyes, dry cracked lips. The face stays fully recognizable; background, clothes and framing as in the original. Portrait, natural light.
4. Build the mood in a second pass
Upload the finished image back as a reference and change the scene, not the person:
Keep the person unchanged. Place them on an empty night street with fog and broken streetlights, cold blue-green light, horror-movie atmosphere, full-body shot, vertical format.
This keeps you in control: if the scene misses, you regenerate only the scene and keep the good makeup.
5. Save it and, if you want, animate it

Ready-made Nano Banana Halloween prompts
All prompts assume an uploaded photo. Change the details, but keep the line about preserving the face.
Zombie selfie for an avatar
Zombie version of the person in the photo: gray skin, dark circles, a cloudy stare straight into the camera. Face and hairstyle unchanged, close-up, dark blurred background, square frame.
Starter frame for the "zombie runs in for a hug" trend
Turn the person into a movie zombie: pale skin, dark circles under the eyes, a torn shirt and dusty jeans. Face recognizable, arms spread wide, standing full-body in the middle of an empty road, vertical frame, no blood.
Couple photo: one of the two is a zombie
Upload two photos and give each a role:
The first photo is a person as they are, the second is a person in zombie makeup: gray-green skin, cloudy eyes, torn clothes. Both stand side by side on the porch of a country house at dusk, warm light from the window. Both faces unchanged.
Retro horror movie poster
Make a 1980s horror movie poster: the person from the photo in zombie makeup in the foreground, a foggy cemetery and a full moon behind. Film grain, saturated red and green tones, face recognizable, no text.
If the poster needs lettering, make it in GPT Image 2 and put the text in quotes. More editing techniques are in Nano Banana Pro photo editing prompts.
Common mistakes and how to fix them
| Mistake | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| The face looks like someone else | Makeup too heavy in one pass, no "keep" line | Start with the light level, list the features to keep |
| Generation rejected | Blood, wounds or gore in the prompt, or a celebrity photo | Remove blood and wounds, use your own photo |
| The zombie looks cartoonish | No style in the prompt | Add "realistic photograph", "skin with pores" |
| Background and pose changed | The model redrew everything you didn't mention | Add "background, clothes and pose as in the original" |
| Legs cut off in a full-body shot | Wrong aspect ratio | Pick 9:16 or 2:3 in settings and write "full-body" |
| Two people merged into one | Photo roles not stated | Write "the first photo is …, the second photo is …" |
How to turn a zombie photo into a video
The image is only the first shot of the trend. From here there are two routes:
- Motion from someone else's clip. Upload the zombie photo to Kling Motion Control as the character, plus a video of a person running at the camera or dancing. The model copies every step and gesture, so the feet don't slide. Use std for drafts and pro for publishing. For an even better result use the Swap mode: the character repeats the motion and expressions from the clip, and the original sound is kept.
- A scene with two characters. Hugs, chases and conversations belong in Seedance 2.5: upload the normal photo and the zombie photo and reference them in the prompt as @Image1 and @Image2. Length is 4 to 30 seconds.
A full breakdown of the zombie hug and crowd dance trends is in the zombie trend in Kling Motion Control. To chain everything in one place, from photo to makeup to video, use Canvas: nodes pass results to each other without downloads.
What's next
Start with one photo and medium makeup in Nano Banana Pro. Once the face holds, do a second pass with the scene and save a couple of formats: 9:16 for video and 4:5 for the feed. For Halloween, the same frame gives you a poster, a couple photo and a short clip. Other ways to bring a still to life are in the guide how to animate a photo with AI.

Frequently asked questions
How do I turn myself into a zombie in Nano Banana?
Open Nano Banana Pro in the IIshki studio, upload your photo as a reference and write a prompt that says what to change (pale gray skin, dark circles, torn clothes) and what to keep (face, pose, framing). Pick a vertical format and 2K resolution, then run the generation. The image lands in My generations and in Telegram.
Why does Nano Banana lose my face after the zombie makeup?
Usually the makeup is too heavy: asking for rotting skin and empty eyes overrides your features. Add 'facial features, nose and lip shape, hairstyle unchanged' to the prompt, start with light makeup and push it further in a second pass on the finished image instead of all at once.
Can I make a zombie photo with blood?
Graphic wounds and blood may be rejected by moderation; the generation then doesn't start and no tokens are charged. A zombie reads clearly without blood: gray-green skin, dark veins, cloudy eyes and torn clothes are enough. For an accent, ask for dark dirt stains instead of wounds.
How do I turn a zombie photo into a video for the trend?
Upload the finished image to Kling Motion Control together with a short clip of someone running toward the camera or dancing, and the model transfers the motion to your zombie. If the scene needs two people (the zombie hug trend), build it in Seedance 2.5 from two photos referenced as @Image1 and @Image2.
Can I make a zombie photo for free?
Signing up and uploading photos in IIshki is free; you pay only for generations, in tokens. The price of one image is shown on the model card. The cheapest route is drafts in Nano Banana 2.1 and the final shot in Nano Banana Pro.
Every model in this roundup is available in the IIshki studio at reduced club prices. Club members get tokens for generations every month.
